SLU 101 provides a year’s worth of leadership development in just 4 days. This dynamic experience allows students to learn from world-class thought leaders in creative and participatory environments inside and outside of the conference room. The motto of this conference is “Work Hard, Play Hard.” Students will learn from top leaders in a conference room setting one moment, and the next moment be riding a coaster over Sea World or Universal Studios. This wonderful conference is a perfect blend of fun and formation. Ultimately, the end goal of the conference is for students to learn practical and relational life skills that change the way they think, dream, and lead at the feet of Jesus.
Wright Christian Academy participates with Student Leadership University in three of its four leadership experiences. The journey starts the summer before a student's 9th/10th grade school year (depending on the year and grade). For more information, visit www.slulead.com.
Building on the foundation of personal leadership learned at SLU 101, SLU 201 seeks to equip students to lead as a citizen and catalysts for change. At this leadership conference, students will grapple with tough questions, learn the power of legacy and meditate on the cost of freedom. Hearing from the nation's top leaders, preachers, and politicians, students will rediscover the calling, influence, responsibility, and purpose of being a citizen. On top of the knowledge and skills that students will develop throughout the week, they will have the opportunity to visit the nation's capital, national monuments, and many of the wonderful museums that Washington DC has to offer.
The second part of the SLU leadership journey takes place the summer before a student's 10th/11th grade school year (depending on the year and grade). For more information, visit www.slulead.com.
The final leg of the SLU leadership journey takes students across the pond to England and France. Here, students will visit the cities of London, Oxford, Normandy, and Paris as they continue their leadership journey by learning to think bigger about the world as they dive deep into the history of Europe. Students will experience the sacrifices made in the past and consider the worldviews of great philosophers who have paved the way for us. At SLU 301, students will learn that they are called to shape history and leave a legacy for Jesus that is larger than themselves. On top of hearing from some of the world's brightest minds, students have the opportunity to visit the beaches of Normandy and explore the great cathedrals in London and walk the halls of the renowned Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
The third and final part of the SLU leadership journey takes place the summer before a student's 11th/12th grade school year (depending on the year and grade). For more information, visit www.slulead.com.
