At Wright, we believe that the Gospel is salvation for the world. The path of discipleship involves following Christ into places of need within our world. We provide our students with opportunities to engage those places of need both locally and globally.
Our Senior Practicum Program exists to help students explore their vocation and calling at the close of their high school education. We believe this can best be accomplished by inviting our students to join God in his work in the world. Students weekly serve in places of need in the Tulsa area, serving at low-income schools as reading tutors. As well, students complete their schooling at Wright with a mission trip to Belize. We share a longstanding relationship with the people of Belize as we attempt to minister through educational development and capital projects.
Our Belize trip is a Capstone Experience for our students. There are many objectives of this trip some of which are: traveling internationally, experiencing a third world country, missions, cultural and closure. We have partnered over the past 12 years with an organization called Reaching Our Worlds Kids. The president of this organization, Jon Eve has provided a rich experience for our students year after year and has been a great blessing to the ministry of Wright Christian Academy.
Wright Christian Academy is proud to partner with Night Light Tulsa throughout the 2014-2015 academic year. Night Light Tulsa, founded by staff member Anisa Jackson, is a Tulsa-based organization that seeks to serve the homeless and near homeless in our community. Throughout the school year, our community is partnering with Night Light Tulsa through various drives, supply needed seasonal goods. This fall semester we are collecting socks and warm clothing for the winter months.
The National Honor Society not only honors those 10th through 12th grade students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, it also seeks to provide its members the opportunity to serve the Tulsa community. This year NHS is partnering with Night Light Tulsa conducting various drives during the school year that will help provide some of the needs of the homeless people of Tulsa.
This year’s President is Joshua Clements. In his speech to the new inductees he says, “Jesus makes it very clear what it looks like to serve him. This is why we are partnering with a ministry known as Night Light. This organization’s goal is to show Christ’s love to the homeless in downtown Tulsa.”
